About the role

The Analyst will support our research on venture capital funds and tax-advantaged investments as a member of the research and analytical team and assist with a variety of research projects. As well as attending due diligence meetings and assisting in the compiling of reports, the intern will also help maintain the data from AdvantageIQ, our in-house due diligence questionnaire and data system. The role may change over time, based on business needs and the ability of the Analyst to take on more responsibility.

Examples of our analysts’ recent work

Recently analysts have written in-depth reports on venture capital issues, as well as overviews on investing in the media and the biotech sectors; helped redesign our data visualisation for VC performance; built an asset allocation model for a leading wealth manager; and helped put together panel recommendation documents for key advisory clients.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Researching managers, funds, and the markets in which they operate
  • Assisting in the completion of analysis and report writing
  • Developing expertise quickly on major sectors of interest to the investment community
  • Supporting the other functions of the research and analytical team
  • Leveraging datasets to provide insights on venture capital performance
  • Collect and maintain high-quality data in order to make these insights possible

Candidate profile

  • A fascination with venture capital and entrepreneurship
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a ‘start-up’ mindset in terms of finding ways to contribute to the mission
  • We look for candidates who are creative thinkers, who persist in meeting challenges, and who work well as part of a small, ambitious and dynamic team
  • Someone who can think critically and conceptually, and asks “how can we evidence this idea?”
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills, writing clearly and quickly without many mistakes
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organisational skills
  • A passion for data-led research and the importance of quantitative methods
  • Part-qualified professional qualifications, such as the CFA and others, are welcome

Eligibility

Candidates must have a university degree but can be in any discipline, as long as they also possess a passion for venture capital and investing. Candidates must be physically located and eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom.
