Steyn Verschoof


Steyn Verschoof joined MJ Hudson Spring in 2019 and advises clients on responsible and impact investing, sustainability and energy transition strategies.

Areas of Expertise


Before joining the firm, Steyn helped develop client verification software for (amongst others) banks and M&A professionals during an engagement with Relian. Previously, he investigated the feasibility of integrating aquaculture within offshore floating wind farms during a research internship with a Swedish engineering house and assisted an energy start-up with business development.


Steyn holds an MSc degree (cum laude) in Sustainable Energy Technology and a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from Delft University of Technology. In addition, Steyn followed courses in Ethics, Economics and Financial Engineering as part of the Delft Honours Programme and attended exchange programs at Utrecht University (Physics) and ENSTA Paristech (Philosophy).

Recent engagements

  • Supporting a venture capital firm with positioning on ‘impact’ and ‘sustainability’, integrating these themes into core investment processes and setting up an annual reporting cycle.
  • Advising investors during Due Diligence, flagging ESG risks and exposing post-deal value creation opportunities.
  • Supporting a private equity firm with ESG portfolio screening and developing a carbon reduction roadmap.
