Sebastiaan Greeven


Sebastiaan Greeven joined MJ Hudson in 2017. As a Manager in the ESG & Sustainability Team, Sebastiaan has managed numerous projects for private equity firms, asset managers and family offices, related to the integration of ESG in their investment management practices. Sebastiaan is leading MJ Hudson’s service offering related to the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and Taxonomy Regulation, and is closely involved in the development of MJ Hudson’s proprietary ESGIQ platform. In his career, Sebastiaan has developed excellent project management, leadership and client engagement skills.

Areas of Expertise


Sebastiaan started his career in 2015 at IDEA Consult in Brussels, where he provided strategic policy advice to the European Commission on the areas of green economy, renewable energy and technological innovation.

He joined the strategy consulting boutique Spring Associates in 2017 (later acquired by MJ Hudson). At Spring Associates, Sebastiaan conducted many projects for a wide range of clients operating in a wide range of industries, including the development of renewables and sustainability strategies, market entry and acquisition approaches, and turnaround and project management programmes.


  • Sebastiaan holds a BSc and MSc degree (both cum laude) in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management from Delft University of Technology. During his studies, he conducted exchanges in Krakow and Santiago de Chile.

Recent engagements

  • Supported several clients with the implementation of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and the Taxonomy Regulation, supporting them in assessing the implications of the Regulation, making decisions regarding the positioning of themselves and their funds, and drafting the required disclosures.
  • Led projects for one of MJ Hudson’s first ESG clients, a mid-market private equity firm with about 20 portfolio companies. Conducted annual portfolio ESG assessments for three years in a row, visiting most portfolio companies at their sites, to map key ESG impacts and risks, and, together with company management, identify operational and strategic improvement opportunities, KPIs and implementation road maps.
  • Led an ESG project for an ambitious family office, working towards an overall ESG score of its entire portfolio by assessing and rating direct participations, fund managers, impact funds, real estate, and philanthropy on their sustainability impact and performance.


Sebastiaan enjoys playing football and chess, and loves to watch movies in cinemas. He lives in Amsterdam. Sebastiaan also participates in the charitable youth mentoring program Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2018.
