Sebastiaan Greeven joined the MJ Hudson Spring in 2017 as an Associate. At MJ Hudson Spring, Sebastiaan has supported and led projects for a number of private equity firms and family offices related to the integration of ESG in their investment management practices. Over the past years, Sebastiaan has conducted ESG work for close to 50 mid-market portfolio companies in a wide range of industries, including food processing, plastics manufacturing to staffing industries. In his career, Sebastiaan has developed excellent project management, leadership and client engagement skills.
Areas of Expertise
Sebastiaan started his career in 2015 at IDEA Consult in Brussels, where he provided strategic policy advice to the European Commission on the areas of green economy, renewable energy and technological innovation.
Prior to MJ Hudson Spring, Sebastiaan was involved in various strategy consulting engagements at Spring Associates, including the development of renewables, sustainability, acquisition, market entry, turnaround and growth strategies, as well as project management office support, for a wide range of clients and industries.
- Sebastiaan holds a BSc and MSc degree (both cum laude) in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management from Delft University of Technology. During his studies, he conducted exchanges in Krakow and Santiago de Chile.
- Supported and led a project for one of Spring’s first ESG clients, a mid-market private equity firm with about 20 portfolio companies. Conducted annual portfolio ESG assessments for three years in a row, visiting most portfolio companies at their sites, to map key ESG impacts and risks, and, together with company management, identify operational and strategic improvement opportunities, KPIs and implementation road maps.
- Led an ESG project for an ambitious family office, working towards an overall ESG score of its entire portfolio by assessing and rating direct participations, fund managers, impact funds, real estate, and philanthropy on their ESG performances. Developed road maps for the company’s direct private mature investments, for them to become front runners in the sustainability transition.
- Organised workshops for portfolio companies of private equity firms and family offices to exchange best practices, share case examples and discuss value creation opportunities.
