Francien Heckman


Francien Heckman  joined MJ Hudson Spring in 2019 as a Consultant. Francien has extensive knowledge of financial markets, in particular the debt market, and how sustainability factors into the decision making process of investors. At Spring, Francien has engaged with PE clients, as well as family offices, assisting in ESG analyses.

Areas of Expertise


Previous to joining MJ Hudson Spring, Francien gained experience within the wholesale banking arm of ING in the Financial Institutions Group Debt Capital Markets (FIG DCM) origination department. Several of the (investment grade public debt) projects focused on assisting clients in setting up Green Bond frameworks, as well as supporting issuance of a Green Bond.


Francien holds a double Master’s degree in Finance and Investments and Behavioural Economics, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Business Economics, from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Recent engagements

  • Assisted GPs in formalizing their ESG policies, analysed mid-market portfolio companies on ESG impacts and risks, and identified operational and strategic improvement opportunities.
  • Assisting a family office in illustrating ESG (high level) risk areas across its entire direct and indirect portfolio, including ESG, impact, real estate, and philanthropy investments.
  • Extensive (showcase) due diligence projects for Private Equity firms, examining potential targets from a risk perspective and identifying risk mitigants/value creation opportunities.
