Eamon Devlin

Eamon is a corporate and investment funds lawyer, with experience in M&A, investor / LP representation, co-investments, secondaries, spin-outs, and private fund formation. He represents a number of family offices, fund of funds, national governments, and other high-profile investors and is a frequent commentator on industry issues.

Eamon is Head of MJ Hudson Zurich, Switzerland, splitting his time between London and Zurich. He recently moved from London to Zurich with his wife and two children.

Clients include Aberdeen Standard Investments, Access Capital Partners, Adams Street Capital, Allianz, BACKED VC, The Family, HM UK Government, LGT Capital Partners, MIT, Newbury, Schroder ADVEQ, StepStone, Stonehage Fleming, and Unigestion.


Experience

Prior to help founding MJ Hudson in 2010 (including forgoing income for nine months and re-mortgaging his family house in the process…), Eamon was at King & Wood Mallesons (formally SJ Berwin) and Proskauer Rose (Boston and London).


Education and Qualifications

  • Studied Law at the London School of Economics.
  • Solicitor (England and Wales).
  • Registered as a foreign lawyer with the Zurich Bar Association, Swizerland (Obergericht des Kantons Zurich).

  • HM UK Government on a manager selection process and fund investment relating to a £750 million infrastructure fund (2018).
  • Swiss multi-family office on sale of assets (2017/19).
  • LGT Capital Partners on several primary closed-ended fund investments (2012/19).
  • Swiss-based family office on restructuring of private assets and secondaries sale of fund interests (2018).
  • Unigestion on equity-related co-investment transactions (2018/19).
  • Adams Street Capital on primary closed-ended fund investments (2016/19).
  • Formation of Energy Access Ventures, a social impact fund for Africa (2018).
  • Aberdeen Standard Investments on secondaries deals and primary closed-ended fund investments (2015/18).

Interests

Eamon is a keen sports / football coach. He retired from White Collar boxing and Irish / Gaelic football (or rather those sports retired him…). At the weekend, he enjoys learning how to ski at the age of 40.
