MJ Hudson to Establish Paris Office with Hire of Benjamin Aller
LONDON AND PARIS, 4 March 2016
Benjamin was a partner at SJ Berwin then King & Wood Mallesons for the last 14 years. During that time, he played a role in founding SJ Berwin’s highly successful Paris office and led King & Wood Mallesons’ investment funds practice in the Middle East.
Benjamin is a member of the Paris and New York Bars. He is recognised as a leading investment funds practitioner in the latest editions of Chambers Global, Legal500 and Who’s Who Legal. His practice includes advising general partners in Europe, Africa and the Middle East on fund formation, as well as advising institutional limited partners on their private fund investments.
Commenting on Benjamin’s arrival, Eamon Devlin, the Firm’s managing partner said: “MJ Hudson is uniquely positioned to service the needs of the alternative assets industry in France and beyond. Unlike key competitors, our Firm is focussed exclusively on providing pragmatic legal advice to those buying, selling, managing or investing in alternative assets. Launching operations in Paris is an important step in rolling out this vision internationally, and Benjamin is superbly qualified to lead this effort.”
Benjamin added “The private funds industry in France is among the strongest and most sophisticated in Europe. At the same time, it is highly dependent on international sources of capital and subject to complex regulatory and tax requirements. To meet the special needs of this industry, we plan to build the leading alternative assets boutique in France by selectively recruiting and training lawyers who combine specialist regulatory, tax and transactional skills with the pragmatic, hands-on approach our clients expect.”
Formal launch of the MJ Hudson Paris office is subject to approval of the Paris Bar Council.
