MJ Hudson bolsters Private Equity offering with hire of Saloni Joshi

MJ Hudson announces that experienced private funds lawyer, Saloni Joshi, has joined the Firm as a partner and will be based in its London office. Saloni trained and qualified at Linklaters in 1998.  She joined the London office of Debevoise and became international counsel in their London office in 2006.  After eight years at Debevoise, where she was pivotal in building their European private equity practice, she joined the London office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in 2007 as a partner and head of the Private Investment Funds group in London.  Saloni established SJ Advisers in November 2010 with a view to provide legal advice to participants in the private equity arena on a more cost efficient and flexible basis.

Saloni’s practice covers a broad range of private equity transactions, including primary investments, re-ups, co-investments, secondary acquisitions and disposals, as well as advising on partnership and corporate law matters more generally. Saloni has acted for numerous international fund sponsors pursuing strategies in a variety of markets, including buyout, venture capital, infrastructure, mezzanine, real estate and fund of funds. She has also acted for many of Europe’s leading institutional investors in private equity funds, as well as representing investment managers, consultants, local government bodies, pension plans, family offices and high-net worths.

Saloni will be a key member of the LP Unit, part of MJ Hudson’s highly-rated private equity investor practice. MJ Hudson has extensive private funds experience, gathered from acting over a number of years for both GPs and LPs and working in-house at both fund managers and institutional investors and has formed a dedicated team of specialist lawyers who have considerable experience acting for institutional investors making investments in private funds; the LP Unit.

Commenting on the appointment, Eamon Devlin, the Firm’s managing partner said  “We are delighted that Saloni is joining us in London as she is an excellent addition to our established global investment funds capability.  Her experience advising sponsors and investors on international investment funds and private equity acquisitions together with her significant LP/investor expertise will blend perfectly with the European needs of our U.S. and international clients and also strengthen our LP practice significantly.”
